Josiah's First 10 Days (outside the womb...)

Josiah is such a good baby thus far. He eats and returns right to sleep at night (and most the day, too). He even smiles when he is dreaming -- it is so cute! We are all in love with him and overjoyed with this precious gift of God. Please read on for a little information about Josiah's namesake, King Josiah of Judah (Old Testament in the Bible).

My Dad sent this email: WHAT'S IN A NAME?

I have been reading about Josiah in II Chronicles 34

Josiah was 8 years old when he became king and he reigned for 31 years over Jerusalem. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walked in the ways of his forefather David, not turning aside to the right or the left. In the eighth year of his reign he sought the God of David. In his twelfth year, he began the major cleanup of Judah and Jerusalem. He broke to pieces the idols and cast images and he scattered them over the graves of those who had made sacrifices.
And that's only the beginning (Read II CH 34-35 and II Kings 21, 22, 23). I hope this little new life in Josiah can live up to his royal heritage in some small way......I love the name.

Unser Liebere Oma (Our Dear Grandma)

Grandma came and went. We were so BLESSED by her presence! She made our first week with Josiah so wonderful! Grandma came to our home for 1 week and helped with laundry, diapers, cooking, and loved on her grand-babies. Nathaniel enjoyed every minute of her attention! She is so creative with him - she sang songs, read stories, played blocks, played on the play-ground, invented sock puppets, and more. We all wish she could have stayed longer and it was a pretty sad good-bye. We are thankful for her gentle way with Nathaniel, her prayers for all of us, and her generosity with her frequent flier miles to come visit and serve us!!

Josiah Thomas

He's finally here!
Born 8-12 @ 01:51 in Mannheim, Germany
8lb 6oz 23"
Healthy and eating well...

Update for 8-22-08 -- Due to a different measuring technique in German versus American hospitals, we have a length revision to make: He was 21.5 inches long. Still a big guy, but not quite so long! =)

No Baby Yet...

Today is the due date for "Baby Brother", as we've been calling #2. This shot is of us after a walk...hoping to move things along! It also seems as though it was an unofficial "Crazy Shirt Day"!

First Haircut

Sorry, Grandma Jan. We could not hold out for you to make the first clippings of Nathaniel's curls. As you can see, Nat was very good for Daddy long enough to get it done. We attached a video too.
